ALPHA CENTAURI (Updated)
Federation member world located somewhat near Earth.  The denizens of the planet refer to themselves as Centaurians.  In 2377, massive storms hit Alpha Centauri due to malfunctioning weather control systems, causing devastation on a large scale when a hurricane ravaged the planet and flooded most of the entire eastern continent ("Clandestine").  Pegasus spent some time thereafter in orbit, assisting other ships and Admiral Pulaski of Starfleet Medical with rescue and repair efforts on the planet below ("Reset").  A few days later, Pegasus got underway and left orbit of the planet ("Do No Harm").  Caterina DiMarco’s dog Poochie was a survivor of the mudslides caused by the flooding, and adopted by Mrs. DiMarco at an animal shelter there ("Microbe Brew").

In mid-2379, a battle between the current ambassador and Amaterasu Kaiyama was compounded by Melanie Maddox’s investigations, as the Federation News Service reporter suggested that Amaterasu was using her sister Beth, a medical doctor, to try to kill the outgoing Ambassador Renault ("Revelations"), who had previously agreed to retire before suddenly changing his mind ("A Star in a Stoneboat", "Historic").  The true culprit was later revealed to be D’Thon, Kaiyama’s empathic personal assistant.  Since this incident, Pegasus has not returned to Alpha Centauri ("Revelations").

In 2386, the governor of Alpha Centauri instructed planetary officials to issue an arrest warrant for Dr. Gregory Parfam for a variety of crimes, including industrial sabotage ("Rank and File").

AMARYLLIS & STRONTHON ERTAS (Updated)
Amaryllis Ertas is the present governor of Betazed, having deposed Governor Ashela Satari in an election that became a personal referendum as several secrets emerged about the ex-governor and her husband, Andrelin Edron, father to Marcus Betencourt ("Hello Mother, Hello Father").  She and her husband Stronthon Ertas began the Beta-Primus party, whose primary intentions are focusing on programs and taking steps to ensure Betazed interests first and foremost, with an ultimate goal of removing Betazed from the Federation.  Both Ertases have listed the Dominion Occupation of Betazed as one of the primary reasons for their beliefs – as Betazed did not seem important before its occupation or during the time its populace was being savaged by the Jem’Hadar, and even after the Occupation, Betazed security has been a low priority for Starfleet ("Home Fires").  Governor Ertas oversaw a bill requiring security listening posts be posted across the planet to prevent anyone from being caught off-guard by a hostile invasion force ever again, but she personally granted Marzia Betencourt and Sarde Marzia a waiver from these requirements ("Touchstone"), though later revoked this waiver in 2383 ("Touchstone").

Stronthon Ertas replaced Olivia Asher – Marzia’s mother – as Betazed’s Federation Councilor ("All Nations Striving Strong") after her vote to condemn the Klingon invasion of Cardassia despite orders to vote the other way ("This August Body").  While on the Security Council, Stronthon Ertas worked against passage of a bill that would cause the Klingons to withdraw from Cardassian space, as the Betazoid representative believed the brutal occupation was just desserts for Cardassia’s actions during the Dominion War ("A Little Help From Our Friends").

Marzia Betencourt has long distrusted the motives of the Ertases, but the Ertases have no known hidden agendas or ulterior motives, and truly believe the points they are espousing, no matter how much she and others may disagree ("Home Fires").  In 2383, Marzia successfully staved off an attempt by Governor Ertas to commandeer control of Sarde Marzia, a small village long owned by her family ("Homecoming", "The Captains of Pegasus").  When the Betencourts returned to Betazed in 2383, Marcus found the Starfleet battalion charged with guarding their world to be woefully unprepared ("Free Will").

On Stardate 62566, Mareena Salean entered the Betencourts’ household and took the couple and Councillor Stronthon Ertas hostage.  After contacting Poe Dalin at Bajoran Fleet Command, Salean murdered Ertas while the Betencourts, Poe, and several of his staff watched ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance").  Upon learning of his death, Governor Amaryllis Ertas went on the warpath, demanding Starfleet accountability for her husband’s death and the immediate transfer of Marcus Betencourt off the planet ("The Rashomon Effect").  On stardate 62675, Marcus Betencourt became Executive Officer of Starbase Deep Space Nine, reporting to Colonel Kira Nerys and command officer of the USS Defiant ("Voice of the Comet God").

In September or October of 2385, Governor Ertas was notified by Karen Shore of the existence of a group of empaths who did not believe in the forbidding of certain Betazoid techniques ("Democracy Inaction?").  In November of 2385, an unknown member of the Vigilant crew alerted Amaryllis to Marcus Betencourt’s use of these illegal techniques, resorting in temporary injury to Fleet Captain Nathaniel Quinn ("Ever Vigilant").  Ertas dispatched Keepers to DS9 to abduct Marcus Betencourt in order to Silence him, robbing him of his empathic abilities forever, but their efforts were unsuccessful, and Poe, Kira, and many others were outraged by the attempt ("Democracy Inaction?").  Ertas demanded the Keepers be released, but that demand was summarily ignored.  Instead, Secretary of State Pollister made clear that the men would all be prosecuted to the fullest extent of Federation law, per President Finneas Del Roy's orders ("Stratagems and Allies").

AMATERASU KAIYAMA (Updated)
CEO of Kaiyama Enterprises. A human female of Japanese descent, Kaiyama was born on Alpha Centauri, one of Kaiyama Enterprises' headquarters. Very interested in making profit.  Kaiyama offered help after Alpha Centauri's devastating storms ("Clandestine", "Do No Harm"), which made her very popular on her planet, and also offered aid after Pacifica's floods ("Come Hell or High Water").  In 2379, Ambassador Renault, the ailing Centaurian representative to the Federation, died.  Amaterasu Kaiyama was overwhelmingly supported to take his place and  served as a member of the Federation Council from that point ("Revelations") until her resignation in 2386 to work in the newly elected presidential administration ("Fancy Dress", "Stratagems and Allies")

While on Pacifica, Counselor Asher had a momentary empathic contact with Kaiyama, in which Asher read that Kaiyama was somehow responsible for the devastation on Pacifica and Alpha Centauri ("Come Hell or High Water").  While Captain Poe and his crew began to investigate Kaiyama, they shared information with Federation News Service reporter Melanie Maddox, who released a scathing exposé of Kaiyama and accused of her involvement in several planetary disasters that had occurred that year ("Nightingale", "Do No Harm", "Come Hell or High Water", "A Star in a Stoneboat").  Unbeknownst to most, Amaterasu’s younger sister Dr. Beth Kaiyama was secretly assisting Melanie Maddox in uncovering her sister’s actions.  It was later revealed that Kaiyama’s alien assistant D’Thon, an alien with powerful mental abilities, was controlling Kaiyama’s actions, but only after D'Thon caused Beth's death.  Amaterasu retained no memory of the things she had done under his command, but held the Pegasus crew and Starfleet responsible for the death of her sister and vowed revenge upon the Pegasus crew ("Revelations").  A couple of weeks later, Kaiyama proclaimed publicly that she had lashed out in anger and grief over her sister’s death, and now held all of Starfleet blameless ("Tests and Trials").

But behind the scenes, Kaiyama secretly retained her grudge ("Historic").  Kaiyama worked to punish those members of Pegasus she held to be most responsible for the entire incident, for assisting Melanie Maddox in slandering her name, and for allowing her sister to die needlessly in an explosion set by D’Thon – Captain Poe and Counselor Marzia Betencourt.  Working to injure Marzia through the man she loved, Kaiyama worked with Marzia's mother in a ruse to force the counselor to accept reassignment back to Betazed in exchange for charges being dropped against Lt. Betencourt ("Tests and Trials").  When Marzia refused, charges were filed against Betencourt and his father Richard for falsifying Betencourt’s Starfleet medical records ("The Lies We Live").  Kaiyama later intervened in Betazed politics to help further disrupt Marcus and Marzia's life by getting Marcus reassigned off Betazed, where he had been assigned just a few months prior ("The Rashomon Effect").

Kaiyama tried to harm Poe by getting Admiral De La Cruz to permanently reassign Martinique La Salle, his then-fiancé (now wife), to work with her ("Tests and Trials").  Martinique was on Alpha Centauri to handle the diplomatic crisis that accompanied the revelations of the D’Thon incident ("Revelations"), but her stay lasted for some time ("Remembrance of Things Past: Day One", "Just You and Me", "Tests and Trials", "Family").

A few months later, Kaiyama recommended to Admiral Nechayev that Pegasus be sent on a three-year mission into unexplored space ("New Worlds and New Civilizations").  Kaiyama also personally delivered orders to Pegasus, under its new CO Commander Carlos Ruiz, to deploy the Lost Tears Squadron to track down pirates taking refuge in the Badlands and harassing various cargo freighters, including several Kaiyama vessels.  Doing so allowed Kaiyama to antagonize the Pegasus crew ("The Howl of Wakened Hounds").  Councillor Kaiyama was present during the 2381 Federation Security Council meeting at which a resolution condemning the Klingon invasion of Cardassia and calling for an immediate withdrawal was approved on a vote of 10-4 ("This August Body").  Amaterasu Kaiyama also voted at a Security Council meeting on stardate 59556.4 which pushed through a compromise measure to put an end to the Klingon occupation of Cardassia ("A Little Help From Our Friends"), and was present at the official ceremony marking Bajor’s admittance into the Federation ("Homecoming").

Kaiyama became involved in the race for Federation President in 2385 when she began to back (financially and with her support) Finneas Del Roy, a fellow Centaurian, in the race against incumbent Taela Shanthi ("The Captains of Pegasus").  Kaiyama later became Del Roy’s campaign manager ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue") and eventually his chief of staff ("Debatable Topics").  When coming face to face with Marzia Betencourt on Parliament, Kaiyama warned Del Roy not to answer her questions or trust her, labeling Marzia and the Pegasus crew as ‘enemies’ ("Ever Vigilant").  Kaiyama vocally brought the final presidential debate on Bajor to an end after suggestions by Federation News Service reporter Jane Lassiter, working as a proxy for Melanie Maddox, that Del Roy had something to hide health-wise.  Upon Del Roy’s win in the election, ("One Very Bad Week"), Kaiyama has taken a powerful role in the new administration as the presidential chief of staff and has used her position to order a top-down review of the Bajoran Fleet, and delivered orders from President Del Roy to Fleet Captain Hanson for half of the ships in the fleet to be reassigned ("A ‘Hole Lotta Trouble").

Fleet Captain Poe Dalin attempted to get Kaiyama to see her part in the plot of The Five, asking her to run a DNA and tissue analysis on Del Roy to confirm their suspicions that he was, in fact, a clone created by The Five.  He did so while showing Kaiyama a cloned replica of herself recovered from a laboratory controlled by The Five ("Democracy Inaction?"); the clone suffered severe trauma and was comatose due to the battle on the aforementioned laboratory ("Ever Vigilant").  On Stardate 63019, at the start of the year 2386, Kaiyama arrived at DS9 along with Secretary of State Antoinette Pollister.  While Secretary Pollister toured Pegasus, Kaiyama spoke with Ruiz, Sakai, and Baum in Pegasus’ Sickbay: all three were at the time under the control of the Waz.  Kaiyama ordered the destruction of the Kaiyama clone, and Baum carried out the act himself with a phaser ("A ‘Hole Lotta Trouble").

So far the Pegasus crew has proven unable to acquire a tissue sample of Del Roy ("One Very Bad Week"), and unbeknownst to them, Kaiyama performed one and notified Del Roy of the results, but did not tell him everything the test showed: merely that he was not a clone ("Stratagems and Allies").

In mid-February 2386, a routine training mission led to the rescue of Dr. Gregory Parfam, a former Kaiyama Enterprises scientist and industrial saboteur, from Ronal IV.  Dr. Parfam turned over files he stole from Kaiyama's personal computer core that indicated she was attempting to investigate the Asaph Hall Gallery on Mars for what she believed to be a scheme involving insurance and art fraud ("Rank and File").  After investigating these files, Captain Ruiz ordered his own investigation into the gallery, putting an end to the gallery's efforts to funnel money into financial accounts accessible by The Five; Mareena Salean herself had made several withdrawals from one of the funds, and many of the insurance companies losing money to this scheme were owned by Kaiyama Enterprises.  After they put a stop to this, Kaiyama beamed aboard Pegasus to demand Dr. Parfam be turned over to her immediately, and when Captain Ruiz refused and ordered her off the Pegasus, she instead offered to share some vital information with the crew regarding The Five and President Del Roy ("A Grace Beyond the Reach of Art").  The meeting with Kaiyama and Del Roy occurred the next week, during which time Del Roy asked the Pegasus crew to form an alliance with him against Section 31 ("Discovery Phase").

BAJOR
Federation member world.  Joined the UFP in 2384 on Stardate 61722, becoming the 157th member of the United Federation of Planets ("Homecoming").  Formerly a Federation protectorate since the end of the Cardassian Occupation and withdrawal in 2369.  Rich in mineral deposits of various types, including uridium (DS9, "Emissary").  The Bajoran Fleet, under command of Fleet Captain Poe Dalin, was assigned to the Bajoran system after its admittance into the Federation ("The Captains of Pegasus") and its headquarters are located in the vacated Kheler Rûd monastery on the planet’s surface ("The End").

Bajor’s political system – a sort of democratic theocracy of sorts – reflects the planet’s heavy religious influence, as throughout most of Bajoran history belief in the Prophets – the aliens inhabiting the Bajoran wormhole – was nearly absolute.  The executive of the planetary government is the First Minister, while legislative powers are split between the secular Chamber of Ministers (DS9, "The Homecoming") and the Vedek Assembly (DS9, "In the Hands of the Prophets", "Sanctuary"), where the religious leaders known as vedeks self-select a Kai to serve as the titular leader of the Bajoran faithful.  Because of the theocratic bend of the governmental system, the Kai, while not a popularly elected official, is a highly influential figure whose opinion is usually sought on issues before the Assembly and even the Chamber of Ministers (DS9, "Emissary").  The current First Minister of Bajor is Shakaar Edon, and the current Kai is Yarka Vano ("Homecoming").

The Cardassian Occupation of Bajor was harsh and caused the death of untold thousands.  One of many war criminals of the time was Gul Terral Akren, who went missing before the Cardassian Withdrawal and was rescued far from home in a damaged vessel by Poe and the Pegasus ("The Devil’s Savior"), though Akren was later made to stand trial for his crimes against the Bajoran people in 2377 ("Homeward").  In 2380, Zelman Toralek was accused of being the "Butcher of Meralek" by Amaterasu Kaiyama, among others; during an extradition hearing held in orbit of Bajor, Toralek’s real identity as a minor figure and scientist at the Meralek camp was proven ("Tokyo Rose").

When the Cardassians withdrew from Terok Nor, a Starfleet crew commanded by Benjamin Sisko – declared by then Kai Opaka Sulan to be the Emissary of the Prophets – took over the running of Bajoran-owned starbase Deep Space Nine (DS9, "Emissary").  Sisko ran Deep Space Nine until his death in 2375, at which time Colonel Kira Nerys took over as commanding officer (DS9, "What You Leave Behind…", PEG, "Loss of Innocence", "Pirates of the Greater Treason").  The Emissary remained a powerful figure to the Bajorans throughout his life (DS9, "Accession", "Rapture") and even after it; a false ‘return’ by the Emissary was a ploy by Vedek Faralas, a candidate for Kai, to acquire more votes ("A Pegasus Ghost Story").  Captain Poe, like many Bajorans, felt an affinity towards the Emissary, and read all the captain’s mission logs and writings ("The Kai", "Reflections of You").  The captain did what he could to help a wayward Jake Sisko when he hatched a plot to seek revenge against Intendant Kira for the death of his Mirror Universe mother and many others ("New Worlds and New Civilizations", "Reflections of You"). The Emissary returned to the Alpha Quadrant in 2385, very much alive and well ("Twelve Long-Dead Guardians") and promptly renewed his vows with his wife Kasidy Yates Sisko ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").  After a brief stint in charge of the Bajoran Fleet, Sisko returned to Earth to visit his family and spend a good amount of time there ("Forced Perspective").

Pegasus’ first trip to Bajor was in 2375, when Bajoran cultists calling themselves Children of the Pah Wraiths intended to seize power on the planet and kidnapped several Pegasus crewmembers ("Loss of Innocence").  Pegasus returned to Bajor in 2377 in order to drop off Cardassian war criminal Gul Akren so he could stand trial ("Homeward").  In late 2378, while heading for Bajor VIII, the entire away team had its memory erased ("What’s My Line?").  During the contentious 2378 selection of the next Kai, the extremist group Children of the Pah Wraiths were blamed for the hijacking of the passenger liner Detala, leading to riots against their followers, led by Vedek Lindaro.  The group responded by unleashing devastation upon DS9 and its Promenade, injuring many ("And-a One, And-a Two", "Faith")Soon thereafter, the selection of Kai was made, with Captain Poe declining to participate despite having the right to do so.  After the actions of Vedeks Lindaro and Faralas forced them to withdraw from the selection process, Vedek Yarka Vano was chosen to be Kai ("A Pegasus Ghost Story").

Pegasus would not return until the end of 2379, to assist various former Section 31 members’ attempts to foil a plot by a shadow government on Bajor to eliminate Kira Nerys ("Pirates of the Greater Treason").  The shadow government and its threat to First Minister Shakaar’s rule had ended by mid-2380 ("Tokyo Rose").  Pegasus assisted greatly in the curing of the Fallow virus, created by a mad Doctor Raven from the Mirror Universe, and remained in orbit for some time to assist with rebuilding efforts and other matters ("The Fallow", "Lessons Learned", "Hello Mother, Hello Father").  Variants of the Fallow persisted even until early 2381, when First Minister Shakaar came down with it, though he recovered ("New Worlds and New Civilizations").

In 2381, there was still unrest among the Bajoran faithful, leading Vedek Trefa to propose a bill in the Vedek Assembly outlawing the practice of the Pah-wraith religion, despite warnings from then-Ambassador Poe Dalin ("Fidelity") that such behavior would jeopardize any chances for Bajoran admission into the Federation.  Fortunately, the bill’s support eroded after a Bajoran ‘faith healer’ (who was a large supporter of the bill) was proven to be a charlatan ("Medical Miracle").  A short time later that year, Poe Dalin and Martinique La Salle were wed on Bajor ("Everlasting"), met with a representative from the Freelander Alliance who came to DS9 to open negotiations ("Envoy"), and dealt with a huge number of forest fires on Bajor’s surface, which required some creative use of resources and the help of the Lost Tears Squadron to fight ("Home Fires").  Near the end of 2381, Poe received a vision of a threat that the Ash-vou’el would pose to Bajor if unstopped, causing Poe to return to active duty on Pegasus ("Status Quo?").

After its deep space mission, Pegasus returned to Bajor in 2385 ("The Captains of Pegasus") and has remained posted to the Bajoran system since.  In September of 2385, Pegasus was ordered by Fleet Captain Poe, via requests from the Bajoran government, to try to figure out a way to divert a comet away from Bajor B’hava’el, Bajor’s sun.  The Bajoran Science Ministry was convinced that the strange energy readings found in the core of the comet head could pose a threat to their planet’s sun, and while sympathetic to the Dristi pilgrims’ beliefs, the security of the Bajoran star was of paramount importance ("Voice of the Comet God").

The Bajoran Wormhole was mined in early 2385 after an attack by Jem’Hadar vessels that came through it from the Gamma Quadrant believed to be a new Dominion offensive ("Homeworld Security","Aftermath") and later discovered to be a ploy by The Five ("The Lies We Tell Ourselves").  Anger at the closure of the wormhole spread quickly, not only across Bajor ("The Lies We Tell Ourselves", "Debatable Topics") but on various worlds who had lost their Gamma Quadrant trading partners.  This led to the creation of the Free Trade Alliance, which ushered in a moderately successful embargo of the Federation ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").  The mines were removed at the end of 2385 on president Taela Shanthi’s orders ("Ever Vigilant", "Democracy Inaction?"), and Pegasus became the first vessel to enter the wormhole after its months-long closure, after solving a perplexing scientific crisis plaguing the Bajoran colony of Prophets’ Landing ("One Very Bad Week").

The final presidential debate took place on Bajor ("Democracy Inaction?"), after being temporarily delayed after Finneas Del Roy was reported to have fallen ill ("Sanctioned", "Ever Vigilant"). It was disrupted via a pointed question by Jane Lassiter as to Del Roy’s physical status after she was made aware by Melanie Maddox of his potential status as a clone ("Democracy Inaction", "One Very Bad Week").

BAJORAN FLEET (Updated)
Starfleet military unit created in 2385 and based in the Bajoran system, whose purpose was both exploration of the Gamma Quadrant and security of Bajor and its surrounding systems.  Currently led by Elizabeth Hanson, although Poe Dalin was the commanding officer of the Bajoran fleet at its creation until mid-November 2385 ("One Very Bad Week"), and his promotion to Fleet Captain made him the only Bajoran at that rank in Starfleet at the time ("The Captains of Pegasus").  Fleet Captain Poe took several officers with him to serve as part of his command staff, including Lt. Thelven Shelar ("Homecoming"), and Lt. Jones ("Stages of Grief: Denial").  Major Ret Lor Tyr later joined the fleet, and Lieutenant Zeth Than’du took over the post of adjutant after the prior adjutant suffered an injury ("Voice of the Comet God").

Ships presently in the fleet include USS Defiant ("The Captains of Pegasus"), the USS Earhart, USS Marco Polo, USS Martin Luther King, USS Meiji ("Homeworld Security"), USS Dunsinane, USS Ansari ("Something Old, Something New…"), and the USS Shavros ("The Lies We Tell Ourselves").

The USS Odyssey joined the fleet briefly ("The Captains of Pegasus"), only to be damaged in a fight against Jem’Hadar in the T-Rogoran system and withdrew to undergo many months of repairs ("Free Will").  The USS Rapier was destroyed during the battle above Kurrill Prime ("Homeworld Security").  The USS Ares and USS Norway were destroyed at the Battle of Minos Korva, and the USS Arcadia left to Earth to undergo several months’ worth of repairs ("Stages of Grief: Depression").  The USS Sun Tzu was destroyed in a battle with the Borg near DS9 ("A ‘Hole Lotta Trouble"), and the Pegasus, Heimdall, and Eclipse were all reassigned to other billets during the first weeks of the Del Roy administration ("Stratagems and Allies").

While still putting his fleet together, Poe received Freelander Alliance permission to investigate claims of Section 31 activity in the T-Rogoran system, a former Dominion-held area ("The Captains of Pegasus"), while Pegasus responded to a medical crisis on the Dosi homeworld.  The USS Decatur came under attack by Jem’Hadar vessels near the T-Rogoran system ("Zero Hour") and was destroyed with all hands ("Free Will").

Poe was ordered to prepare a proper response to the Dominion hostilities ("The End"), which took place a month later at T-Rogoran when the Bajoran Fleet destroyed two Jem’Hadar vessels ("Free Will"), then headed for Kurrill Prime to investigate information that Section 31 had operations there ("Zero Hour").  In orbit of Kurrill Prime, a fight took place between the Fleet and four Jem’Hadar vessels, which resulted in the loss of the USS Rapier ("Homeworld Security").  Three months later, the crew would learn from Odo that the Dominion did indeed fire upon the Decatur and destroy it, and sent vessels to T-Rogoran and Kurrill Prime to destroy the Section 31 bases they had found there, which had been constructed by The Five.  The crew would also learn that agents for The Five were running the Jem’Hadar vessels that destroyed the USS Rapier in orbit of Kurrill Prime ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").

At the same time, three Jem’Hadar vessels exited the wormhole and began to attack Deep Space Nine, sending Jem’Hadar soldiers aboard Ops and other areas and killing several ("Homeworld Security").  During a visit to Bajoran Fleet command, Odo denied that the Dominion had attacked DS9 or any other Alpha Quadrant locations, which Agent Karen Shore of Section 31 confirmed.  Shore informed Poe and his officers that The Five had a heavily guarded cloning facility at Minos Korva, and that the Jem’Hadar who had attacked DS9 were in fact cloned by The Five ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").  Poe took several vessels and destroyed the facility there in the Battle of Minos Korva ("Stages of Grief: Depression").

On stardate 52566, via subspace while Mareena Salean was holding the Betencourts hostage on Betazed, Poe agreed to a truce with The Five, promising to stay out of their affairs as long as his people and their families were left along by the Section ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance").  Several weeks later, the truce appeared to be holding ("The Rashomon Effect", "Voice of the Comet God") until Agent Shore’s evidence suggesting Finneas Del Roy may be the highly important clone The Five were using to take over the Federation required more action and the eventual shattering of this truce ("Sanctioned", "Ever Vigilant").

The Fleet has been utilized to respond to emergency situations, including the hijacking of the USS Defiant ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue"), and the apparent future destruction of DS9 and the USS Pegasus ("Forced Perspective").

Beginning in December 2385, Elizabeth Hanson was serving as Bajoran Fleet Captain after Poe Dalin was relieved of duty and his commission deactivated by President Taela Shanthi ("One Very Bad Week, Next Generation").  Chief of Staff Amaterasu Kaiyama brought Hanson orders from President Del Roy reassigning six of the Bajoran Fleet vessels, including the Pegasus.  This was before the sudden appearance of Borg and Jem’Hadar vessels menacing DS9 and the Bajoran system after emerging from the Bajoran Wormhole ("A ‘Hole Lotta Trouble"), after which the number of ships reassigned away from the Bajoran Fleet was reduced to three ("Stratagems and Allies").

BETA-PRIMUS (Updated)
A political faction on Betazed.  In 2380, the Beta-Primus movement – an isolationist movement that seeks to withdraw Betazed from the Federation and which stresses that decisions should be made which best benefit all Betazoid people – came into power after Governor Satari’s decisive loss in planetary elections to Amaryllis Ertas, who became the new planetary governor, while her husband Stronthon Ertas used his charisma and well-argued points to win over the Betazoid citizenry ("Hello Mother, Hello Father", "Home Fires").  The Beta-Primus movement lists, among some of its complaints, the Occupation of Betazed during the Dominion War and Starfleet’s failure to keep the denizen safe ("Hello Mother, Hello Father", "Homeworld Security").

In 2381, Governor Ertas trounced the former Betazed Federation Councillor, replacing her with Stronthon Ertas.  The Beta-Primus party leaders announced Betazed would not to honor the Federation trade embargo against the Klingons, brought about as a result of the Klingon occupation of Cardassia, and mentioned their plans to build a planetary defense force for Betazed ("All Nations Striving Strong").  The Beta-Primus party spawned a similar isolationist-nationalist movement on Pacifica ("Murky").

Upon being posted to Betazed in 2385, Marcus came to realize why Beta-Primus was so popular when he saw the level of disarray in the Starfleet defense battalion charged with defending the planet in case of attack ("Free Will").  Attacks upon Betazed by Yridian and Liseppian pirates further underscored the inept and ineffectual leadership by Captain Gregory Trevor and Commander Bal Tobrin ("Free Will", "Homeworld Security", "Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining"), although Marcus Betencourt later solved the problem himself ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance") despite being ordered off duty after his attack on two of his Pegasus crewmates ("Confrontations").

On stardate 62566, Mareena Salean murdered Ambassador Stronthon Ertas in Marcus and Marzia Betencourts’ home ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance"), causing Governor Ertas, now a widow, to go on the warpath against Starfleet and the Betencourts ("The Rashomon Effect"), eventually leading to a referendum on withdrawing Betazed from the Federation, and Marcus Betencourts’ transfer off Betazed, though the referendum failed ("Voice of the Comet God").

More recently, Governor Ertas has used the power of the Beta-Primus party to convince many of the planet’s citizens that all Betazoids using illegal empathic techniques must be stopped for the good of the planet’s future, and to safeguard the Alpha Quadrant.  This has resulted in numerous Silencings, including a botched attempt to board DS9 to kidnap Marcus Betencourt ("Democracy Inaction?").  The recent group of Keepers who boarded DS9 by force to take Captain Betencourt are now facing full prosecution by Starfleet ("Stratagems and Allies").

BETAZED
Federation member world.  Ruled by Governor Amaryllis Ertas.  Brutally occupied during the Dominion War by the Dominion (DS9, "In the Pale Moonlight"; PEG, "Home Fires"), despite attempts by Federation officers like Nathaniel Quinn to liberate it ("Stages of Grief: Depression").  As an occupied Federation member world, the inhabitants of Betazed were not treated humanely ("All Nations Striving Strong"), and the occupation lasted for some months, until freed just before the end of the War (DS9, "What You Leave Behind…").  This lead to resentment of Starfleet by many Betazoids and gave rise to the Beta-Primus movement, concerned primarily with removing Betazed from the Federation and ensuring planetary security and prosperity as goals above all others ("Hello Mother, Hello Father").  Even a decade after the War’s end, Betazoid security remains in need of serious attention ("The Captains of Pegasus", "Stages of Grief").  Previous Betazoid ambassadors to the Federation have included Stronthon Ertas, husband of Governor Ertas, until his murder by Mareena Salean ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance"); Lwaxana Troi for some time prior to 2381 ("Love and Marriage") and Olivia Asher in 2381 ("Envoy", "All Nations Striving Strong").

Pegasus’ first visit to Betazed was in 2376, on stardate 53766, when the destruction of a strange artifact at an archaeological dig freed a malevolent creature named Shaundauros that sought to destroy the planet’s citizens.  Pegasus was instrumental in saving Betazed from destruction and recapturing Shaundauros ("Senseless").  But just two years after the Shaundauros incident, Pegasus’ assistance to Betazed had been forgotten: Governor Ashela Satari banned Pegasus from entering orbit on stardate 55221 ("Master Plan"), citing Pegasus’ disregard for other planets’ sovereignty and the Risan ambassador’s discomfort with Pegasus’ presence as reasons for the ban ("Risan Morality").  The ban was ignored by Poe Dalin when necessity required trips to Betazed, such as crew emergencies ("Love and Marriage") or escorting VIPs to conferences ("Fidelity").

During the planetary elections of 2380, Governor Satari’s popularity sank after it was revealed that she and her husband Andrelin Edron had been involved in several manipulative schemes, including one to falsify Starfleet records in regards to Edron’s son, Marcus Betencourt, and utilizing Amaterasu Kaiyama’s newfound power as a Federation Council member to make threats against Marzia Betencourt in order to force her to return home.  Andrelin Edron himself is the one who blew the whistle on these practices, especially when his son Marcus was facing trial and the possible end of his career ("Tests and Trials").  The Beta-Primus movement gained control of the government after Satari’s fall from grace.

In 2381, Governor Ertas announced Betazed would be forming its own planetary defense force and no longer solely relying upon Starfleet for its safety, contracting with Klingons to do the job ("All Nations Striving Strong").

In 2385, the Betencourts return to Betazed yet again ("Homecoming", "The Captains of Pegasus"), and learned of the level of disarray the Starfleet defense battalion was in, leaving it vulnerable even to pirate attacks ("Free Will").  Marcus Betencourt and Thelven Shelar uncovered evidence of a base built under Betazed’s ocean that they believed to be run by Section 31, but which was actually run by The Five.  During their trip to the base, the two men were captured and subjected to procedures undertaken by Mareena Salean ("Homeworld Security").  Marcus’ subsequent return to the underwater base to gather information was tumultuous to say the least ("Confrontations").

On stardate 62566, Ambassador Stronthon Ertas was murdered by Mareena Salean in the Betencourts’ home ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance").  Soon thereafter, recently widowed Governor Ertas announced she would be bringing up a referendum on whether or not Betazed should continue to be a Federation member within the next few months ("The Rashomon Effect").

Relations between Betazed and the Federation became further strained when several Betazoid Keepers, charged with Silencing any Betazoid found to be using banned mental techniques, boarded DS9 by force and attempted to abduct Marcus Betencourt ("Democracy Inaction?").  The Keepers were taken into custody and so far Colonel Kira and Poe, prior to his removal as Fleet Captain, have resisted turning them over to Betazoid officials ("One Very Bad Week").

Human admiral in Starfleet.  Involved heavily in the Dominion War, and a signatory of the Treaty of Bajor in 2375 (DS9, "What You Leave Behind…").  His adjutants during the war included Benjamin Sisko (DS9, "Behind the Lines") and Poe Dalin ("Diaspora", "Stars are the Books She Reads", "Foregone Conclusion", "The Stalwart").  Ross had significant involvement in Section 31 (DS9, "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges", PEG, "Cat and Mouse").

In 2375, Admiral Ross ordered Pegasus into the Gamma Quadrant (the first starship to venture there after the War) to meet with the Freelander Alliance ("Free at Last").  Ross used Poe Dalin’s reluctant help in creating the downfall of Pegasus’ former CO (a known Section 31 member), then began to split the crew of the Pegasus apart and reassign them to various locations.  Ross was able to do this because the Pegasus was an Intelligence vessel at the time ("Foregone Conclusion", "The Stalwart", "Diaspora").

However, Poe was unhappy with Admiral Ross’ efforts to break up the crew of the Pegasus and with his own part in the undermining his former CO’s career, so he took steps to keep the crew intact and transfer Pegasus into the Exploration branch and away from Ross’ direct control.  Because of Ross’ illicit actions during Poe’s attempt to transfer Pegasus to Exploration, he was reduced in rank to Rear Admiral ("Cat and Mouse").  Ross never forgave Poe for what he saw as a betrayal ("Reset", "Déjà vu All Over Again").

After Ross’ demotion, the admiral laid low for a bit, and took an official leave of absence from Starfleet ("Millenium Bug") while still undertaking covert Intelligence missions, such as sending Commander Maddigan and the Bellerophon – the same ship he used in his previous Section 31 mission (DS9, "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges") – to try to kidnap a Starfleet officer from the USS Pegasus.  When the Bellerophon fired upon the Pegasus, it heavily damaged Maddigan’s career; Ross approached Maddigan with an offer to join Section 31 ("Stars are the Books She Reads").  Ross also approached Donalbain Lennox after he resigned from Starfleet after a tumultuous one-week command of the Pegasus and invited him to join the Section ("A Change for the Worse").

Several years later, in 2385, Admiral Ross would appear to temporarily gain the upper hand against Poe, though it is unknown whether his actions were personal or professional.  When the Bajoran Fleet Captain blew up at his staff, particularly the hijacking of the USS Defiant, Ross installed the newly returned Benjamin Sisko ("Twelve Long-Dead Guardians") as Acting Fleet Captain and relieved Poe from duty.  Ross was on Bajor to officiate the renewal of Sisko’s vows to Kasidy Yates ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").

CARDASSIA
A non-aligned planet, once briefly aligned with the Dominion.  Longtime occupier of Bajor.  Cardassia is still ruled by the civilian Detapa Council.  Legate Marus was from Cardassia.

After a Klingon vessel whose crew had been massacred was found to have Cardassian DNA aboard, Chancellor Martok headed to Cardassia Prime to demand answers from the Detapa Council.  While in orbit, the Klingon flagship Negh’Var was destroyed by a Cardassian terrorist group proclaiming itself Free Cardassia, a freedom fighter group that would not rest until all non-Cardassians were forced to leave.  The destruction of the Negh’Var and the deaths of the Klingons aboard caused the Klingon Empire to declare war on Cardassia ("The Howl of Wakened Hounds").

Cardassia’s beleaguered military forces were quickly overwhelmed, and Chancellor Martok soon declared Cardassia fully pacified in the name of Alpha Quadrant security.  The Federation Council was forced to address this matter after diplomatic talks to defuse the situation collapsed.  When they did so, the Council – after a full day of contentious hearings – voted 10-4 to condemn the Klingon invasion and to impose trade sanctions should Cardassia not be freed ("This August Body").  Cardassia remained occupied by Klingon forces as the Federation maintained a blockade along the borders of the Federation-Cardassian Demilitarized Zone, and enforced a trade embargo with the Klingon Empire, which lasted until the middle of the following year ("Channel Open!").  On Stardate 59556, the Federation Security Council voted on a resolution brokered by the Federation Diplomatic Corps to put an end to the Cardassian Occupation.  As of stardate 59640, the Klingons have withdrawn all forces from Cardassian space ("A Little Help From Our Friends").

Ten years after the end of the Dominion War, Cardassia Prime is still recovering from both the aftermaths of the Dominion devastation and the Klingon occupation.  Pegasus entered orbit of Cardassia Prime in 2385 after accompanying Admiral Corazon Aquino De La Cruz and her adjutant Commander Martinique Poe to conduct talks with the Detapa Council.  Commander Ruiz, Ensign Crispen, and Admiral De La Cruz were planetside when members of the Free Cardassia movement attacked the governmental complex and sought to kill Council President Garak.  With the help of Commander Poe, temporarily in command of Pegasus, the crew was saved, and the uprising eventually quelled.  As a result of this act, Garak informed Ruiz and Admiral De La Cruz of the duplicitous Chaundra St. Amant’s status as a Romulan operative ("Free Will").

Even this long after the end of the Klingon occupation, Cardassia still relies on humanitarian relief and supplies to be brought in from Deep Space Nine and Bajor.  Among the ships regularly making cargo runs to Cardassia Prime was the Bajoran freighter Xhosa, commanded by Captain Kasidy Yates Sisko, widow of the Emissary.  In 2385, these humanitarian relief efforts were hampered by Captain K’Voth, a Klingon raider ordered to create as much trouble for the Cardassians as possible ("The Rashomon Effect").

CATERINA DiMARCO
Civilian and long-time resident of the USS Pegasus.  Married to Jono DiMarco.  Has an Andorian dog named Poochie ("Microbe Brew").  See Jono and Caterina DiMarco.

CENTAURIANS
Name given to human residents and life forms born on Alpha Centauri. Notable residents of Alpha Centauri included Zefrem Cochrane until his disappearance ("Metamorphosis", TOS) and Amaterasu Kaiyama, whose headquarters for Kaiyama Enterprises were on Alpha Centauri ("Nightingale").  Presidential candidate Finneas Del Roy ("The Captains of Pegasus") also hailed from Alpha Centauri.

Centaurians were noted for having developed their own culture, distinct from that of Earth, even though there were no native sentient life forms on Alpha Centauri when humans settled there. Due to the unusual makeup of the planet's atmosphere and sun, those born on Alpha Centauri tended towards lighter skin, and many had a signature bright red hair color (GM's notes). A large Centaurian colony existed in the Dellarzai system ("Friendly Competition"). The Centaurians as a people became quite enamored of CEO Kaiyama after her months of work and tons of monetary wealth spent on the rebuilding of that planet after a freak problem with their weather control system caused catastrophic storms there, killing thousands ("Clandestine", "Do No Harm").  After the public accusations against Amaterasu Kaiyama and disruption of Ambassador Renault’s funeral by Melanie Maddox, Centaurian officials briefly considered taking sanctions against Starfleet and the Federation, including a trade embargo ("Revelations", "Tests and Trials").

DAIMON SUR
Ferengi DaiMon.  Pegasus’ first run-in with Sur was in 2378 on stardate 55075, when he attempted to pillage the Radoth-5 colony after rendering Pegasus dead in the water through use of his verteron weapon.  During this encounter, Liz Hanson played to Sur’s ego, and thus began his infatuation with the Starfleet officer ("Sur-prise!").  A couple of months later, Sur attempted, again with the assistance of his incompetent underling Bok, to assume control of all of Betazed via use of his ‘empathic mind-control ray’ ("Master Plan").

Sur was imprisoned on Betazed for his threats against the Betazoid people, and during his time on the planet he began a surreptitious romantic relationship with the Betazoid Ambassador to Ferenginar, Marai Anyos.  When Sur’s prison term ended, he and Ambassador Anyos fled the planet together, prompting Anyos’ mother Lady Anyos to declare her kidnapped.  Pegasus investigated this claim in 2380, but Marai claimed to have left of her own accord ("Love and Marriage").  Later that same year, Sur and Anyos – still aboard Sur’s vessel Targrath – set out to begin a new business: benevolent intervention into the affairs of struggling planets.  Their first target was the Draaglian civilization, and after Sur had "helped" the population – in a way Poe believed was a violation of the Prime Directive – they began to worship him as a god! However, with no clear crime having been committed and with the Draaglians ordering Pegasus’ immediate withdrawal from their space, DaiMon Sur was left to continue his scheme ("Salvation, Inc.").

DaiMon Sur and Marai Anyos were reunited with the Pegasus in an unhappy crossing of paths upon the crew of DS9 and Pegasus learning that the two were part of the negotiating team sent to convince the Federation not to re-mine the Bajoran Wormhole.  Also present as part of this group were the Grand Nagus’ wife Leeta and Yarras Dax, the new permanent host of the Dax symbiont after Dezra Daire’s temporary hosting of it ("Something Old, Something New…").

FEDERATION COUNCIL (Updated)
Governing body consisting of representatives of the member nations of the United Federation of Planets.  The Council chambers are located in San Francisco on Earth (Star Trek: Encyclopedia, "This August Body"), though meetings regularly take place in Paris as well ("What You Don’t Know…").  There are currently 157 Council members – one from each member world ("Homecoming").  The Council is subdivided into several committees, including the powerful bureaucratic Governing Committee ("A Star in a Stoneboat") and the paramount Federation Security Council ("Envoy").  Amaterasu Kaiyama served as Councilmember representing Alpha Centauri ("Revelations"), and Stronthon Ertas was appointed by his wife Amaryllis Ertas to represent Betazed ("A Little Help From Our Friends").

Before heading to the Gamma Quadrant, Martinique Poe (née La Salle) discovered that she would also be taking a position on the Security Council, representing Pacifica, after the suspension of the Antican ambassador for devouring a Selay delegate ("Envoy").  The Federation Security Council, after several hours of debate, pushed through a motion by Lady Paneril of Rigel on a vote of 10-4 to condemn the Klingon invasion of Cardassia and call for an immediate removal, with sanctions to include a blockade of Cardassian space ("This August Body").  The Security Council met in special session on stardate 59556 and pushed forward a resolution designed to bring an immediate end to the Klingon occupation of Cardassian space ("A Little Help From Our Friends").

The Councillors have duties besides being present for the Council.  Several attend diplomatic conferences, as Ambassadors Tylal Soen of Andor, Ahansii Lor-Tyr of Cait, and Zork Lefover of Tellar did on stardate 59556.4 ("A Little Help From Our Friends"), and some also attend official signings of official charters of new members to the Federation.  On stardate 61722, ambassadors from Alpha Centauri, Andor, Tellar, and other members of the Security Council attended the ceremony honoring Bajor’s admittance into the Federation ("Homecoming").

In 2385, just prior to the election, the Federation Council Leader resigned abruptly and without explanation after an extended conversation with President Taela Shanthi, leading to a power vacuum within the Council that was expected to be filled soon after the inauguration of President Finneas Del Roy ("Democracy Inaction?").  Also that year, Ambassador Reylin visited the Council to press for immediate aid to Tepla ("Next Generation", "Fancy Dress").

FEDERATION NEWS SERVICE
A civilian organization and the largest news organization among Federation member worlds.  Also known as the FNS.  Regular newscast anchors are Katharine Graham Amanpour, a British human female, and Zargo’kassath, a green-skinned humanoid alien ("The Stalwart", "Reset", "Revelations", "Faith").  Tyler Ellis and Irene Kai Loh have also served as anchors ("Mortal Enemy").  Melanie Maddox is a reporter for the Federation News Service, as is Hunter Woollcott ("New Worlds and New Civilizations", "The Howl of Wakened Hounds"), although Maddox was indefinitely suspended in late 2385 for her actions in airing a story on the Chaundra St. Amant scandal without permission ("Democracy Inaction?").  The FNS has a major office located in New York City ("A Little Help From Our Friends"), and bureaus throughout the Federation, including a bureau on Bajor ("Zero Hour").  H. Sergio Santos served as editor of the NYC bureau (The Fourth Estate, "The End", "A Little Help From Our Friends"), and was replaced by a clone just weeks before the election by Mareena Salean ("Sanctioned"); that clone later relieved Melanie Maddox of duty indefinitely ("One Very Bad Week").

FINNEAS DEL ROY (Updated)
Current President of the United Federation of Planets ("One Very Bad Week", "Next Generation", "Stratagems and Allies").  Centaurian male, supported in his bid for the office by Amaterasu Kaiyama ("The Captains of Pegasus").

Agent Karen Shore of Section 31 believes Del Roy to be a clone under the control of The Five, and the lynchpin to their plan to usurp control of the entire Federation from within, although she has no empirical data to prove this yet ("Sanctioned", "Ever Vigilant").  A data PADD recovered from the abandoned aquatic facility on Betazed contained a list of five clones already infiltrating the Federation, but the fifth name was never clearly spelled out, although Shore believed it to be Finneas Del Roy (log, "Once More Unto the Breach", "Stages of Grief: Depression").

Less than a month before the election, Del Roy was headed for Bajor to participate in the final presidential debate when his ship suddenly was diverted to Parliament after reporting Del Roy was having a serious medical emergency.  This was on the heels of Del Roy’s popularity and approval ratings skyrocketing after Melanie Maddox’s scathing exposé regarding Taela Shanthi’s involvement with Section 31 and with the kidnapping and /or execution of the family of a woman believed to be a longtime Romulan operative ("Sanctioned", "Ever Vigilant").  An away team dispatched to Parliament to gather information on Del Roy found him to have had a miraculous recovery.  Although scans taken by Marzia Betencourt did not suggest Del Roy to be a clone, no tissue sample could be acquired ("Ever Vigilant").  Fleet Captain Poe later urged Amaterasu Kaiyama to acquire a tissue sample herself ("Democracy Inaction?"), which Kaiyama later did ("Stratagems and Allies").  Del Roy himself gave the Pegasus crew a tissue sample in early 2386 ("Discovery Phase").

The final presidential debate between Del Roy and Taela Shanthi was derailed early into the forum, with Del Roy denying that there was anything about his health to hide before his chief of staff Amaterasu Kaiyama ordered him not to answer any questions ("One Very Bad Week").  When voting was completed, Del Roy had handily defeated Shanthi to assume the office of Federation President ("One Very Bad Week", "Next Generation").

Since taking office, Del Roy has been mostly out of the public eye: he has given a couple of speeches, but has not made any major public appearances.  Unknown to the public, this is primarily due to Amaterasu Kaiyama discovering that while Del Roy is not a clone, he has undergone mental reprogramming that could be utilized by The Five to make him their puppet.  Kaiyama has not informed Del Roy of this mental reprogramming; merely of the fact that he is not a clone ("Stratagems and Allies").  Moving to further cement their control over the Federation and to work against The Five, Del Roy appointed Admiral Martin Delorio to Admiral of the Fleet at Kaiyama's suggestion, angering The Five member Admiral Paul Henry, who had expected to be named ("Rank and File").

In February 2386, President Del Roy extended an offer to the Pegasus crew to work together with him to topple Section 31 once and for all, in addition to offering a tissue sample of his own for the crew to test at will ("Discovery Phase").

THE FIVE (Updated)
The leaders of an autonomous faction formed as a result of a schism within Section 31 with plans to usurp control of the Federation for their own purposes, presumably in the name of Federation security ("The Captains of Pegasus").  People who are supporters of the plot orchestrated by The Five consider themselves to be loyal Section 31 officers, but this is not a view shared by others, including Agent Karen Shore.  Details of The Five’s plot cannot easily be proven, but are believed to include the capturing of the offices of the Federation President and the Starfleeet Admiral of the Fleet.  These plots first came to light after the attempted kidnapping of Melanie Maddox and Elizabeth Hanson and the mining of the Bajoran Wormhole brought Odo, Agent Shore, and Poe Dalin together in one room ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").

Mareena Salean, Marcus Betencourt’s biological mother, is believed to be one of The Five ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining"): see also Members of The Five

In early 2385, Poe requested that the USS Decatur, a Nebula-class vessel not yet a part of the Bajoran Fleet, investigate coordinates of a rumored Section 31 base in the Gamma Quadrant and within Freelander Alliance territory.  The Decatur was later discovered destroyed with all hands by the Jem’Hadar, who most certainly would not be welcome in Freelander space ("Free Will").  Odo confirmed that the Dominion destroyed the Decatur, believing their discovery of Section 31 bases and the Decatur in the Gamma Quadrant were harbingers of a new Starfleet offensive ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").  During an interrogation of a Section 31 operative secretly aboard Pegasus, Poe and McFarlane learned that seven sites within the Gamma Quadrant were bases of operation for Section 31, including Kurrill Prime, the Vorta homeworld ("Zero Hour").  After investigating Kurrill Prime, Pegasus discovered Admiral Gregory Quinn held in stasis there, despite having been found dead in his apartment of natural causes a few days prior on Earth.  An autopsy performed by a team led by Dr. Beverly Crusher confirmed that Admiral Quinn’s body on Earth was in fact a clone.  The base on Kurrill Prime was self-destructed, killing Lt. Commander Jake McFarlane and the real Admiral Quinn ("Homeworld Security").  Agent Karen Shore confirmed that The Five had the ability to create clones of other people that are very difficult to detect, that all of the bases in the Gamma Quadrant were built and run by The Five, and that they had a cloning facility in the Alpha Quadrant at Minos Korva ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").

The Five were also apparently responsible for the poisoning death of Drs. Crusher and Dr. Alyssa Ogawa on Earth and the attempted killing of Nara Roswell and the death of her unborn child ("Clinical", "Stages of Grief: Denial"), and for the death of Sam Blaber at the hands of an unknown muscular Bolian agent ("Homeworld Security", "Confrontations").  Agent Shore also blamed The Five for abducting Chaundra St. Amant, a known longtime Romulan operative, and she and her family were executed under mysterious circumstances some weeks later despite being under Shore's protective custody ("Sanctioned", "Ever Vigilant").

Agent Shore has also noted that the breeding facilities appear to be turning out Jem’Hadar soldiers as well, and that the attacks on Deep Space Nine ("Homeworld Security") and Bolarus by Jem’Hadar were in fact not Dominion attacks, confirming Odo’s claims that the Dominion has not operated in the Alpha Quadrant since the end of the war, as per the treaty of Bajor (DS9, "What You Leave Behind…").  The cloning facility run by The Five was destroyed by the Bajoran Fleet during the Battle of Minos Korva ("Stages of Grief: Depression").

Later, the Bajoran Fleet and the Five entered into an uneasy truce after Mareena Salean used the Betencourts as hostages and Agent Shore recommended Poe take her up on the offer in order to give them all time to flush the members of The Five out.  During the hostage taking on Betazed, Ambassador Stronthon Ertas of the Beta-Primus party was killed ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance"), giving even more ammunition to Amaryllis Ertas in her efforts to drive Starfleet off of Betazed ("The Rashomon Effect").

Pegasus crewmembers squared off directly with members of The Five on Andor, as The Allasomorph and Molom attempted to assassinate Teles, the Andorian Guardian and Section 31 operative responsible for the execution of Ambassador Shoren, a clone.  Karen Shore was instrumental in convincing Thelven Shelar to participate in a rescue effort, although her plan involved hijacking the USS Defiant without his knowledge.  During a fight on Andor’s surface at a penal facility, Molom was killed in self-defense, but The Allasomorph escaped ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").

Less than a month before the election, a newly set-up cloning facility to replace that one lost at Minos Korva was infiltrated by an away team consisting of several Pegasus and DS9 officers, Teles, and some of the crew of the USS Vigilant, including Fleet Captain Nathaniel Quinn.  The facility was destroyed by a ship controlled by The Five to prevent as much data as possible from being gathered from it, although a clone of Amaterasu Kaiyama was retrieved by the away team from the facility ("Ever Vigilant").

Since the election of Finneas Del Roy, The Five have been eager to utilize the mental programming they have put into the new Federation President in order to get him to do their bidding, but have been thwarted at every turn so far by Amaterasu Kaiyama ("Stratagems and Allies", "Rank and File").

FREELANDER ALLIANCE
Also referred to as the Freelanders.  Diplomatic alliance formed after the withdrawal of the Dominion from formerly conquered and occupied worlds in 2375, primarily near the Bajoran Wormhole.  The name arose from the fact that all of the worlds formerly under Dominion sway now found themselves "free" of outside influence.  The freed worlds included Djaklis Prime, Yadera Prime, and the Karemma and Dosi homeworlds ("Free at Last").  Other worlds included those of the Drai and the Fos-Essen (The Fourth Estate, Chapter 1) In the early days after the end of the Dominion War, Jem’Hadar attacks upon Freelander-held territory were still common, as was political upheaval within the relatively new and unstable Alliance.  A series of unfortunate incidents and diplomatic blunders led to chilly relations between the Federation and the Freelanders at this time ("Free at Last"), though diplomatic efforts continued and paid off when a Freelander delegation arrived at DS9 in early 2376 to sign trade agreements with the Federation ("Research and Development").

Some Vorta, freed of their enslavement to the Dominion, settled on Freelander worlds.  Dularan, a female Vorta, became the duly elected governor of Karemma in 2376, soon after the Dominion withdrew.  The Pegasus worked with the Gamma Quadrant Task Force in this year to open official diplomatic talks with the Karemma and the Freelanders at this time ("Breaking Bread"), with talks continuing in late 2381 when Ambassador Dryden Tollory, the first ship’s counselor of the USS Pegasus, arrived at Deep Space Nine for negotiations with Bajor and the Federation ("Envoy"), and when Ambassador Poe Dalin (temporarily on leave from his Starfleet commission) traveled to Karemma ("The Howl of Wakened Hounds") to continue talks started by his wife Martinique ("Desolation").  Captain Poe and the Pegasus crew would be reunited with Ambassador Tollory in 2385 when entering the Gamma Quadrant to verify claims that Section 31 was undertaking some unknown agendas in Freelander-held territory.  Poe at this time intended to request travel and exploration rights for the Bajoran Fleet within and nearby Freelander space.  Upon learning of a major catastrophe on Freelander member world Dosi, Poe offered Ambassador Tollory the assistance of the Pegasus ("The Captains of Pegasus"), and Pegasus made its way to the medical catastrophe zone.

Poe and the Pegasus crew later learned that the USS Decatur had been lost with all hands after being attacked by the Jem’Hadar within the T-Rogoran system – a system the Dominion was not supposed to be operating in any further ("Zero Hour").  The Freelanders claimed to have absolutely no knowledge of why the Jem’Hadar were in Freelander space ("Free Will"), a claim that Starfleet refused to believe.  Ambassador Tollory was summoned to DS9 again soon after the attack on DS9 by Jem’Hadar vessels and accused of complicity with the Dominion ("Homeworld Security"), a charge which Tollory angrily denied.  The Freelanders were also strenuously opposed to the mining and closure of the Bajoran Wormhole ("Stages of Grief: Denial").

The Freelanders joined the Free Trade Alliance when it was started by the Ferengi soon after the Wormhole was closed ("Voice of the Comet God") but was unable to actively participate in the FTA embargo ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").  Relations remained strained after the reopening of the Wormhole to traffic both ways, and so far the Freelander Alliance has not proven interested in offering the Federation any assistance, including with Tepla ("Next Generation", "Fancy Dress").

JONO AND CATERINA DiMARCO
Married human couple.  Jono DiMarco was a Lieutenant Commander serving in sciences aboard the USS Pegasus as chief stellar cartographer.  He vanished on stardate 53909.  His wife, Caterina DiMarco, continued to believe Jono was alive and would return someday, despite investigations that lasted longer than one year turning up no clues as to the cause of Jono’s disappearance, save a slight increase in chronaton particles ("Diaspora").  Caterina DiMarco remained aboard Pegasus for the next two and a half years with the captain’s permission ("DiMarco’s Lament").  She was considered something of a busybody, and often was seen carrying around her pet dog, an greenish Andorian kotzol named Poochie ("Déjà Vu for the Very First Time", "Microbe Brew").  Poe sympathized with Caterina, who despite being a civilian with few skills to contribute to Pegasus, wished to be closest to the location where she was last saw her husband ("A Change for the Worse").  Despite this, Caterina tried her best to be of assistance, with limited success ("Revenge of the Beta Quadrant Dominatrixes!", "Duty", "Cold and Dead", "Microbe Brew"), though she did once single-handedly save an entire unconscious away team from death ("It’s Good to Not Be King").

Caterina finally decided to leave Pegasus on stardate 56444, and her bon voyage party coincided with the sudden return of Jono DiMarco ("DiMarco’s Lament").  Caterina decided to reunite with Jono and help him assist the Iconians after the crew’s trip back in time, returning with him to the new Iconian homeworld ("Remembrance of Things Past: Day One").  The DiMarcos showed up twice to warn Pegasus about Terix’s attempts to destroy the ship and kill the crew ("Hiccup", "Dementia"), and a third time a few weeks after a disaster aboard Pegasus caused the death of forty-one crewmembers, including Captain Poe and Ret Lor Tyr.  The DiMarcos convinced Hanson and the Pegasus crew to use an Iconian device they had stolen in order to travel back in time and undo the deaths.  They also assisted John Kishi, Jr. and stopped his anti-chronaton-induced de-aging, which was caused by Terix ("Everything That Rises Must Converge").  After confronting the Iconian Council for a final time upon the death of Terix, the DiMarcos found themselves aboard Pegasus as it suddenly appeared in orbit of Earth, but Caterina DiMarco was surprised to find that she still possessed the Iconian data padd she had been carrying around, which had several tetraquads of valuable scientific information ("Mortal Enemy")!

Upon returning to Earth, Jono DiMarco was whisked away by Starfleet Command to an undisclosed location ("New Worlds and New Civilizations", "Reflections of You"), and later charged with violating the temporal Prime Directive.  Caterina DiMarco requested that Elizabeth Hanson do what she could to get the charges against Jono dropped as well, since Hanson’s father had somehow had similar charges against Liz go away.  Caterina also entrusted the Iconian data padd to Hanson, hoping she could use it as a bargaining chip to get the charges against Jono dropped ("Touchstone").  Hanson and Utopia Planitia R&D co-leader Commander Blankenship instead used the data padd’s power source to power the device given to Lieutenant Kishi to return him to his proper age ("Medical Miracle").

After charges were dropped against Jono DiMarco, he and his wife raced to catch up with the USS Pegasus as it headed out into its deep space mission, using shuttle USS Golden Hind, given to them by Admiral Moira Condrogan ("Murky").  The couple finally caught up Pegasus as it was about to reach Deep Space Two, and Poe accepted Jono DiMarco’s transfer papers ("Uncharted").  Jono’s expertise proved useful ("The Blues"), though each suffered serious injuries at least once during the three-year deep space exploration: Caterina was injured when she inadvertently triggered a trap set by a rogue Intel operative ("Channel Open!") and Jono DiMarco was moderately injured during the Bora’xeni attack on Procul Colonus ("Homecoming").  Both recovered.  Caterina DiMarco was among the civilians assisting in Sickbay during the Dosi medical catastrophe ("Zero Hour").

The DiMarcos left Pegasus to retire on Earth when the ship returned there in 2385 ("The End").  They returned to Deep Space Nine a few months later along with former crewmate Jon Kishi and an updated (and significantly smaller) version of the LORASON pod for testing aboard the USS Defiant ("Something Old, Something New…").  The DiMarcos and Kishi remained aboard DS9 while testing took place ("Forced Perspective") and returned to Earth soon thereafter ("Conversations With Lazarus").

KAIYAMA ENTERPRISES (Updated)
Business conglomerate founded by Amaterasu Kaiyama, based out of Osaka, Earth, and Alpha Centauri ("Nightingale", "Do No Harm"). Ships included the Nightingale, which participated in the triage situation on New Goodlund after its atmosphere strangely began to lose cohesion ("Nightingale"), the heavily-armed Hokkaido, and Kaiyama Enterprise’ flagship, the Hiroshima ("The Calculus of Propinquity").

The Hokkaido was present at New Goodlund and at Alpha Centauri following the freak storms there in 2378, offering to help Centaurians rebuild their planet ("Do No Harm"). Kaiyama Enterprises offered to assist with rebuilding efforts on Pacifica as well, after the floods there ("Come Hell or High Water").  After Amaterasu Kaiyama’s ascension to the Federation Council, Daniel Sung took over as CEO, and he and Councillor Kaiyama demanded Pegasus assist with safeguarding cargo routes, as several Kaiyama vessels – and others – had been assaulted by pirates for some months near the Badlands ("The Howl of Wakened Hounds").

In 2386, a Kaiyama Enterprises vessel demanded shuttlecraft U.S.S. Ellidaar give Dr. Gregory Parfam to them to stand trial on Alpha Centauri.  Dr. Parfam having requested protection from Kaiyama, Lieutenant Dezra Daire refused, and was assisted during an attack by the Kaiyama Enterprises vessel by the U.S.S. Apache and the Pegasus ("Rank and File").

KAREN SHORE
Section 31
agent and opponent of the autonomous group of fellow agents led by The Five.  On Stardate 62520, Shore and her assistant Liam Doyne attempted to kidnap Melanie Maddox and Elizabeth Hanson as a result of Maddox’s request to Starfleet Command demanding an answer as to Chaundra St. Amant’s whereabouts.  When Shore’s attempt was foiled, she was forced to provide Poe Dalin with information, informing him of the existence of The Five and of some of their nefarious deeds.  Shore named Mareena Salean as one of The Five ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").

Among other things, Shore has charged The Five with building bases in Freelander Alliance territory in the Gamma Quadrant, specifically T-Rogoran and Kurrill Prime ("Free Will", "Homeworld Security"); creating Jem’Hadar warriors used in the attacks on Deep Space Nine and Bolarus ("Homeworld Security, "Stages of Grief: Denial"); and attacking and capturing Marcus Betencourt and implanting a post-hypnotic suggestion into his mind ("Homeworld Security", "Confrontations").  Agent Shore urged Poe to accept Mareena Salean’s offer of a truce, in order to give both of them more time to rally resources and information to use against The Five.  Shore also agreed to take Melanie Maddox to see Chaundra St. Amant and her family ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance"), and on the way back to Deep Space Nine, escaped from the shuttle ("Voice of the Comet God").

Shore crossed paths with the Pegasus once again when it became clear that The Five had plans to kill Teles, a former Andorian Guardian and reluctant Section 31 operative who had derailed a plot by The Five to use their clone, in the guise of Ambassador Shoren, to further their own interests and undermine the Federation from within.  Two members of The Five were sent to eliminate Teles, and Shore convinced (and conned) Thelven Shelar into unwittingly assisting her in hijacking the USS Defiant from DS9 in order to rescue her.  Unfortunately, also aboard the Defiant were Jon Kishi and Jono and Caterina DiMarco, testing the new LORASON pod, and several others, including Yarras Dax, the new host of the Dax symbiont.  Karen Shore was able to save Teles with the assistance of those aboard the Defiant and the Pegasus crew, and eluded capture yet again ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").

Agent Shore provided unexpected assistance during the Stone of Serendi incident on DS9, when the entire population of the base became embroiled in a major disagreement resulting in minor violence ("Debatable Topics").  Doing so allowed her to approach Poe Dalin and ask for his assistance in proving once and for all that presidential candidate Finneas Del Roy was a clone by acquiring a tissue sample.  Poe agreed ("Sanctioned"), though this proved to require sending an away team to Parliament to conduct scans ("Ever Vigilant").  The crew decided to do their best to acquire the sample once Del Roy arrived on DS9 just hours before the election.  Just prior to this decision, Shore received a conditional pardon from President Taela Shanthi, though the provisions attached to that pardon were unknown to Poe or anyone else on DS9 ("Democracy Inaction?").  Concerned at what her mission might be, Poe ordered Shore arrested in order to face charges for Section 31’s complicity in engineering the Founder virus during the Dominion War, and Maddox passed on word to Nara Roswell that Shore be temporarily "lost" and unavailable to be sent to Shanthi’s side.  Shore remained in the Bajoran legal system as of Pegasus’ departure into the Gamma Quadrant ("One Very Bad Week").

LEGATE MARUS
Cardassian legate serving mainly along Cardassia’s border with Bajor in 2385.

Pegasus’ first encounter with Legate Marus was on stardate 62436, after Pegasus received a communication from Fleet Captain Nathaniel Quinn of the USS Vigilant requesting immediate assistance in evacuating Tammeron after his task force of four vessels had been attacked and crippled by an unknown assailant.  Upon reaching the Cardassian border and requesting permission to cross it in order to more quickly reach Tammeon, Marus refused after claiming four unknown Starfleet vessels had violated the borders without notification or proper admittance.  After arguing with Marus for some time and refusing to back down unless Marus acquiesced, Carlos Ruiz was able to earn Marus’ grudging allowance that he and his crew continue on to Tammeron, and Marus even offered the assistance of his own vessel in the evacuation proceedings.  Upon arriving, however, Marus and Ruiz were surprised to find Quinn and the Starfleet Crisis Response Corps vessels had the situation well under control, and that their ships had not been attacked at all ("The Good of the Many").

Pegasus next encountered Marus on stardate 62630, when he angrily claimed to have been attacked by the Xhosa (captained by Kasidy Yates Sisko) and a Klingon raider working in cahoots to sabotage a trade route between Bajor and Cardassia carrying much-needed humanitarian supplies.  Pegasus assisted the legate in getting to the bottom of the situation ("The Rashomon Effect").

MAREENA SALEAN (Updated)
Betazoid female.  Starfleet officer presumed killed at Wolf 359.  Biological mother of Marcus Betencourt; ex-wife of Richard Betencourt.  Fathered Marcus with Andrelin Edron (Marcus Betencourt’s bio, "Tests and Trials", "The Lies We Live", "Homeworld Security").

Salean works for Section 31 and came face to face with Marcus Betencourt and Thelven Shelar while the two found the Section’s underwater base on Betazed.  Mareena Salean implanted a post-hypnotic suggestion into her son’s mind before wiping their memories ("Homeworld Security") and leaving them adrift in the ocean, thinking they had merely been the unfortunate victims of a shuttle accident ("Aftermath").  Salean’s post-hypnotic trigger was activated later when Marcus and Shelar retraced their steps to the Section 31 base on Betazed, causing Marcus to attack his fellow crewmembers ("Confrontations").

Agent Karen Shore has charged that Mareena Salean is in fact one of The Five, an autonomous faction of Section 31 created after a schism and seeking to usurp control of the Federation for their own uses ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").  On stardate 52566, in response to the destruction of The Five’s cloning facility in the Battle of Minos Korva, Salean took Marcus and Marzia Betencourt and Ambassador Stronthon Ertas hostage, killing Ertas in order to force Poe to accept a ‘truce’ between the Bajoran Fleet and The Five, in which both sides agreed to give the other a wide berth.  Salean’s first meeting with the wife of her son Marcus Betencourt was not a pleasant one, as Marzia promised to kill Marcus’ birth mother if she attempted to harm him ever again.  After transporting away from the Betencourts’ residence safely, Salean contacted Admiral Paul Henry at Starfleet Intelligence to inform him that his plan to bring about the truce had succeeded as he had thought it would, marking Henry as one of The Five, although this fact is unknown to any of the Pegasus crew ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance").

Mareena Salean ordered two members of The Five – Molom and The Allasomorph – to Andor to eliminate Teles, an Andorian Section 31 agent and former paramour of Thelven Shelar.  Karen Shore, Thelven Shelar, and a group of Shelar’s hijacked crewmates were able to save her from death ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").

Salean herself carried out the replacement of the editor-in-chief of the New York City Bureau of the Federation News Service with a clone ("Sanctioned").

More recently, Salean has had difficulty in reaching newly elected president Finneas Del Roy in order to speak with him, primarily due to Amaterasu Kaiyama's machinations to keep contact with him strictly controlled after Kaiyama was informed by Captain Ruiz of the possibility of Del Roy being a clone controlled by The Five ("Stratagems and Allies").

Salean was found by the Pegasus crew to be involved in an elaborate art and insurance fraud scheme on Mars at the Asaph Hall Gallery in Sagan City, withdrawing funds from an account set up with profits from the scheme and using them to bankroll The Five operations ("A Grace Beyond the Reach of Art", "Discovery Phase").

MARTIN DELORIO (NEW)
Human Starfleet admiral and known ally of Amaterasu Kaiyama ("Homecoming").  During Captain Poe's debriefing upon his return from Pegasus' three-year deep space exploration mission in 2385, Admiral Delorio made his feelings regarding Poe's lack of fitness to serve as a Starfleet captain quite clear ("Echo", "Message Received").  Delorio is known to be rather bombastic, enjoying a cutting, sarcastic putdown or a witty retort to play to cameras, if any are around ("The Vampire").

During the debriefing on Earth after Pegasus' return in 2385, Delorio was one of five admirals overseeing a hearing that was, in essence, a prelude to court-martial proceedings against Captain Poe Dalin, but at the time of their testimony, none of Poe's officers were aware of this fact ("Message Received").

In 2386, President Finneas Del Roy appointed Delorio Admiral of the Fleet, the highest ranking officer in Starfleet, serving directly below the president as Commander in Chief ("Rank and File").

MELANIE MADDOX
Human female field reporter for the Federation News Service who regularly covers large interstellar news stories ("A Change for the Worse", "The Fallow").  Maddox was one of the most heavily seen FNS reporters, appearing regularly as the host of the NewsCapsule ("A Little Help From Our Friends").

Maddox first crossed Pegasus’ path in 2376 while reporting on the court martial of a former Section 31 agent serving as captain of the USS Pegasus ("The Stalwart").  Maddox then reported on Poe's history-making promotion to captain of the USS Pegasus -- the first Bajoran in Starfleet to command a Starfleet vessel ("Millenium Bug").  Maddox’s involvement with Pegasus grew when she became convinced, much as the crew of Pegasus had, that Amaterasu Kaiyama was responsible for a series of planetary catastrophes.  Maddox had previously reported on a variety of matters involving Kaiyama Enterprises, including its CEO’s failed attempts to pack the Federation Council with sympathetic members ("A Star in a Stoneboat", "Historic").  Maddox continued to cover the goings-on of the Federation Security Council by acquiring sources within the body ("This August Body").

In 2378, Melanie Maddox spoke regularly with the crew of Pegasus during the ship’s time in the Dellarzai System during a war that threatened to erupt between Arkonians and Maturians just after the running of the Dellarzai Derby ("Thus Spake Lombardi", "Jenin", "Displacement").  While Maddox was aboard primarily to cover the Dellarzai War, she also spoke with the crew heavily about Kaiyama Enterprises’ recent actions ("The Calculus of Propinquity").  Maddox boarded Pegasus in 2379 to press Captain Poe to launch an investigation of Kaiyama’s activities, but when he refused, she went public with what information he had shared with her in her own scathing exposé of the CEO of Kayiama Enterprises ("Eavesdrop", "Revelations").  [In a prior and now defunct timeline, Melanie Maddox reported on Voyager's touchdown at the Presidio, breaking the news to millions of Federation citizens that the ill-fated starship had returned to Earth in the year 2377 ("Reset").]

Maddox was involved in Bajoran matters as well, including providing heavy coverage of the contentious battle in 2378 over who would next lead Bajor as Kai, assisting Poe in uncovering a conspiracy to capture the position of power ("A Pegasus Ghost Story", "Faith").  Maddox also covered the exposure of Vedek Miren as a fraudulent faith healer on Bajor in 2380 ("Medical Miracle").  Most recently, Maddox assisted Pegasus with information during the Klingon invasion of Cardassia ("The Howl of Wakened Hounds").

She was present aboard the USS Empyrean in 2381 when it was destroyed by an exploding Liseppian freighter carrying high-grade explosives; the explosion fatally wounded Ambassador Jeil Merfonia of Axanar.  Merfonia’s dying wish was fulfilled by Maddox and Captain Alexei Radimir as both helped convince the Federation Security Council to vote in favor of a resolution to bring an end to the Klingon occupation of Cardassia ("A Little Help From Our Friends").  Maddox has remained close to Radimir, getting herself embedded with his crew aboard the U.S.S. Heimdall for a year in 2384 ("Homecoming").  During a talk with FNS Managing Editor H. Sergio Santos via subspace as she headed to Bajor to report on the Dosi medical catastrophe and other matters within the Freelander Alliance, Maddox denied she had an intimate relationship with Captain Radimir ("Zero Hour").

Maddox approached Poe in 2385 when she received information that the family of Chaundra St. Amant, a former presidential candidate who withdrew abruptly from the race, had disappeared ("Stages of Grief: Denial").  Maddox later discovered that Section 31 officers had kidnapped the St. Amant family, and learned from Poe of Chaundra’s status as a Romulan operative.  Maddox was kidnapped by Agent Karen Shore of Section 31 in an attempt to stop her from publishing her story, and Captain Elizabeth Hanson was taken with her, but the two were saved by a combined effort of Deep Space Nine and the Bajoran Fleet.  Maddox’s actions inadvertently led to a temporary alliance between Agent Shore and Poe Dalin ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").  Maddox later departed Bajor with Lieutenant Jones and Agent Shore to visit the St. Amant family ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance"), and returned with news implicating Federation President Taela Shanthi in the plot to capture and eliminate St. Amant ("Voice of the Comet God").  Up until three weeks before the election, Maddox was barred from airing this information on the belief that it would unduly influence the upcoming Federation presidential election ("Twelve Long-Dead Guardians").  That all changed when news emerged of the execution of the entire St. Amant family, supposedly by the same Section 31 officers who had been charged with keeping them secluded during their debriefing.  Maddox took the opportunity of her editor departing town to air her scathing exposé in its entirety, which sent shockwaves throughout the Federation.  Almost immediately, Shanthi’s approval ratings in polls plummeted ("Sanctioned", "Ever Vigilant"), and Maddox herself was indefinitely relieved of her duties ("One Very Bad Week") by her editor, who had himself been kidnapped by Mareena Salean and replaced by a clone under the control of The Five ("Sanctioned").

MEMBERS OF THE FIVE (Updated)
Here is a list of members of The Five, including whether their status is known to the crew of the USS Pegasus, the Bajoran Fleet, and Starfleet:
-- Mareena Salean (known).  See Primer entry, above.
-- The Allasomorph (known).  The crew has crossed paths with The Allasomorph twice, but is still not aware of whether or not it has an identity or a name, though Karen Shore has noted that it is a member of The Five ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").  The Allasomorph was responsible for the destruction of the Presidio Clinic on Earth via bomb, impersonating a Jem’Hadar soldier to sow confusion, and Jake McFarlane to infuriate Nara Roswell ("Clinical").  It also attempted to assist Molom in killing Teles on Andor, and escaped after their plans were derailed and Molom was killed, though it did nearly kill Shore and Nara Roswell in the process ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").
-- Admiral Paul Henry (unknown).  See Primer entry, below.
-- A tall, muscular Bolian male (unknown).  This individual brutally murdered Samuel Blaber, then had his severed head sent to Martinique Poe in her office on Earth ("Confrontations").  His status as a member of The Five or even as a Section 31 operative remains unknown.

Deceased members of The Five include:
-- Dr. T’Para (unknown; deceased).  Killed during the Battle of Minos Korva while aboard a Steamrunner-class vessel attempting to escape the invading Bajoran Fleet armada ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance").
-- Molom (suspected; deceased).  Marcus Betencourt and Thelven Shelar faced Molom under Betazed’s ocean some time ago during Marcus’ reassignment there, when the two found Section 31’s benthic base of operations ("Homeworld Security").  He and Mareena Salean erased their memories of the event, although Shelar lost an antenna that took several months to regrow ("Aftermath", "Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").  Molom and The Allasomorph headed to Andor later to attempt to eliminate Teles, but were stopped.  During the lethal struggle, Marcus Betencourt and Shelar killed Molom in self-defense ("Something Old, Something New; Something Borrowed, Someone Blue").

It is unknown whether this is a complete list of The Five, since it is possible Molom’s status as a member of The Five occurred after the death of Dr. T’Para, and it is unknown whether or not the vacancies have led to replacements.

NATHANIEL QUINN (Updated)
Human Fleet Captain in charge of the Starfleet Crisis Response Corps (SCRC), and once Poe Dalin’s direct commanding officer while he captained the USS Pegasus ("The Iconian Conundrum", "Salvation, Inc."), and later Elizabeth Hanson’s direct superior after the death of Poe Dalin ("Impulse").  Captain of the USS Vigilant (PEG, "Salvation, Inc.", entire USS Vigilant sim), and nephew to former Fleet Admiral Gregory Quinn ("Stages of Grief: Denial").  Goes by Nate to most of his friends and colleagues ("All Nations Striving Strong", log "Once More Unto the Breach").  Was a line officer during the failed attempt to liberate Betazed (log, "Once More Unto the Breach").

Pegasus’ first in-person encounter with Captain Quinn was in 2381, during the Vigilant’s assignment to guard a convoy of vessels taking humanitarian supplies to the Klingon-occupied Cardassian people.  One of those ships, the medical vessel USS Rosalind Franklin, was secretly smuggling munitions to the Klingons in order to support the Klingon occupation, as some in Starfleet believed the Cardassians to be a threat best dealt with once and for all.  Several Pegasus crew joined Vigilant for this mission, and Captain Quinn led an away mission wearing a personal cloaking suit that went badly and ended in his brief capture.  The Pegasus and Vigilant crews did not necessarily get along well, but maintained their professional behavior ("All Nations Striving Strong").

In mid-2382, Captain Poe called upon Quinn’s assistance in ferrying three ambassadors from Parliament to Earth, urging Quinn to do his best to convince the ambassadors to support the Federation Council proposal to broker an end to the Klingon occupation of Cardassia.  Quinn also rescued most of the crew of the USS Empyrean in the process, including civilian passenger Melanie Maddox ("A Little Help From Our Friends").

In 2385, Pegasus received a distress signal believed to be from the Vigilant in which Quinn noted his ship and others being attacked by an unknown entity while en route to evacuate Tammeron.  The entire hail turned out to be a hoax, with Quinn having completed the evacuation successfully along with his undamaged SCRC vessels.  Pegasus’ attempts to cross through Cardassian space led them to their first encounter with Legate Marus ("The Good of the Many").

Quinn sat in on various meetings held by Fleet Captain Poe regarding the machinations of Section 31 and The Five, which led to the death of Quinn’s uncle Gregory Quinn, among others ("Stages of Grief: Denial", "Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").  Marcus Betencourt requested that either Quinn or Poe countermand Captain Gregory Trevor’s orders to not investigate the Section 31 underwater facility on Betazed any further ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining"), eventually leading to Quinn heading to Betazed to assist Marcus himself in the investigation, which resulted in useful information, but also nearly cost the four away team members their lives (log, "Once More Unto the Breach").

Quinn and the Vigilant once again came to the assistance of the Pegasus crew when an away team led by Marcus Betencourt and including agent Karen Shore and Teles sought to infiltrate a suspected new site for a cloning facility run by The Five, with the old site having been lost at the Battle of Minos Korva.  Quinn was injured during the operation, which was indeed at a new cloning facility, when Marcus Betencourt attempted to use his outlawed Betazoid empathic techniques and they backfired ("Ever Vigilant").  The resulting damage left Quinn temporarily comatose, and when he awoke a couple of days later, he had to relearn some basic motor skills, although he has since made a full recovery.  Quinn’s injury at Betencourt’s hand, while unintentional, caused outrage in some of the Vigilant crew, and led to Governor Amaryllis Ertas of Betazed being informed of the matter.  The governor sent Keepers to Silence Marcus -- a permanent removal of his empathic ability.  Quinn was disturbed at the thought that one of his crew would undertake such an action and violate orders in this manner ("Democracy Inaction?").

In January 2386, Quinn was one of many officers participating in a meeting to form a covert information-gathering network and alliance against President Del Roy and his agendas, as well as those of Amaterasu Kaiyama and The Five.  Each of the participants made promises to seek out other trusted allies as well ("Stratagems and Allies").  The next month, Quinn allowed use of one of his SCRC vessels, the USS Apache, during a training mission by five Pegasus ensigns led by Lieutenant Dezra Daire ("Rank and File").  Quinn attended a holoconference held by Pegasus to discuss an offer from Kaiyama and Del Roy to join forces against Section 31 ("Discovery Phase").

PAUL HENRY (Updated)
Human Starfleet admiral.  Part of the Intelligence branch, and an unknown member of The Five ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance").  In 2382 (stardate 59045), Alynna Nechayev notified Captain Poe that a member of his crew had been obtaining covert surveillance data on the Pegasus crew and Pegasus’ missions and actions in unexplored space on the orders of Admiral Henry of Starfleet Intelligence ("Edged Tools").  Unknown to most on Pegasus at that time, the admiral himself gave the orders to carry out this surveillance ("The Proving Ground").

Admiral Henry eventually notified Captain Poe of his belief that a mole was aboard Pegasus and illicitly sending information to a rebirth of Section 31 on Earth ("The Blues").  Once the identity of the mole was discovered ("Channel Open!"), Admiral Henry made it clear to Captain Poe that Starfleet Command would look the other way if the Pegasus crew did anything illegal in order to gather information from the mole ("Brain Matter").  Admiral Henry arranged to have the Section 31 mole quietly transferred to a medical facility after he was rendered braindead due to misuse of a Storrval mindreading device ("Zero Hour", "The End").

Also in 2385, Admiral Henry authorized Poe’s request to enter the Gamma Quadrant and speak with the Freelander Alliance in order to investigate possible Section 31 activity in the T-Rogoran system.  Henry also ordered Samuel Blaber to attempt to infiltrate Section 31 ("The Captains of Pegasus").  The former S31 agent failed to report back in, concerning his friend Cassandra Rowley ("Homeworld Security").  Rowley and the Admiral both viewed the grisly images forwarded to them of Blaber being tortured while in captivity at the hands of a tall, muscular Bolian ("Confrontations").

Admiral Henry also became aware of the information given by Cardassian Detapa Council Leader Garak to Commander Ruiz and Admiral De La Cruz ("Free Will") that one of the presidential candidates, Chaundra St. Amant, was a Romulan operative ("Homeworld Security").  Poe informed Henry of his plans to destroy the cloning facility run by The Five.  Henry did nothing to dissuade Poe from his plan, but likely informed the forces there to be prepared for the attack.  During the Battle of Minos Korva, the Bajoran Fleet lost two vessels while a third suffered serious damage ("Stages of Grief: Depression").  Henry later spoke to Mareena Salean, a fellow member of The Five, and learned that the ‘truce’ between the Bajoran Fleet and The Five was in effect, and that his suggestion to seek the truce had succeeded ("Stages of Grief: Acceptance").

More recently, Admiral Henry had difficulty in reaching newly elected president Finneas Del Roy in order to speak with him, primarily due to Amaterasu Kaiyama's machinations to keep contact with Del Roy strictly controlled after Kaiyama was informed by Captain Ruiz of the possibility of the president being a clone controlled by The Five.  Admiral Henry has also been awaiting the announcement of his appointment as Admiral of the Fleet, the highest-ranking Starfleet officer ("Stratagems and Allies"), though Admiral Martin Delorio was named instead, infuriating him and potentially upsetting The Five's plans to cement control of the entire Federation ("Rank and File").

PEREINE (Updated)
Offspring of unidentified biolifeform Xirin, capable of empathic communication on a limited scale ("Research and Development")Briefly assisted Pegasus during an attempt by incorporeal, malevolent alien Redjac ("Wolf in the Fold", TOS) to assume control of the vessel via the use of bioneural gel packs.  At this time, Pereine also exhibited the ability to boost Pegasus’ speed and energy usage as Xirin had in the past.  Pereine disconnected itself from Pegasus’ systems after the threat had passed ("The Big Bad Wolf").  Pereine is not currently connected to any ship’s systems, and has fascinated several aboard who wished to learn more about Pereine and its parent, including Lieutenant Thelven Shelar ("Status Quo?") and Jono DiMarco.  In 2385, while en route to Dosi, Pereine contracted Roswell’s Rigellian flu, causing strange symptoms ("The Captains of Pegasus").

Pereine was possessed by the Regent of the Waz aliens during Pegasus’ trip back to the Wormhole, who claimed that the near-sapient organism was not capable of realizing the full potential of powers it had available to it.  The Regent claimed he was making great headway in unlocking its full potential ("Fancy Dress", "A ‘Hole Lotta Trouble").  Pereine began to act rather oddly in early 2386, with both Ensign Coppage and Lieutenant j.g. Quinn 'feeling' the concerned emotions the entity was putting out ("Discovery Phase").

REYLIN (Updated)
Beylorian ambassador.  The Beylorian people once existed as corporeal beings, but have since evolved past needing a physical body, and exist purely as incorporeal consciousnesses existing primarily within computer technology.  The Beylorians were in need of assistance and once requested the aid of the Pegasus via their holodecks, which were the simplest (and least secure) computer system aboard Pegasus at the time the Beylorians sent their distress signal.  As a result of the Pegasus’ actions, the Beylorians sent Reylin to serve as an ambassador to learn more about the Federation, misunderstanding Captain Poe’s suggestion that the two civilizations get to know each other better and taking immediate action upon it ("Beyloria").

Several weeks after the ambassador had been aboard, Pegasus encountered an area of space with a never-before-seen type of neurogenic radiation that proved harmful to internal computer systems and to the crew of the Pegasus.  Without the crew’s knowledge, an advanced alien civilization attempted to render the entire crew in a dormant state in order to prevent them from suffering damage from the radiation.  With the entire crew unconscious, Reylin guided the Pegasus through the radiation field safely ("Asleep/Awake").

When Pegasus returned to the Alpha Quadrant in 2385, Reylin joined some of the women on the holodeck as they engaged in some light shopping.  She also spoke briefly with Marcus and Carlos Ruiz before they engaged in some light sparring.  Captain Griffiths from Starfleet Security boarded to notify Ruiz that he had orders to receive all information pertaining to Reylin, and a list of all computers and information Reylin had had access to, but would not divulge a particular reason for this request ("The End").

The reason became clear a month later, when Griffiths arrived to take Reylin into custody as she was deemed a threat to Federation Security.  Poe requested that his wife Martinique and adjutant Sebas Sola fight the charges and attempt to get Reylin declared an ambassador from the Beylorian people, which they did in a hearing presided over by Admiral De La Cruz and with Commander Darrien Hawk as a witness ("Free Will").

During her time on Pegasus, now-Ambassador Reylin approached Commander Ruiz to request an opportunity to be more helpful to the crew, and proved more than capable of gathering information from unwilling enemy vessels in order to find out the truth about an interplanetary shipping scandal ("The Rashomon Effect").  Ruiz also utilized Reylin’s ambassadorial status (and her incorporeal nature) to send her to Earth to lobby the Federation Council on behalf of Tepla ("Next Generation", "Fancy Dress").  While on Earth, Reylin's efforts proved successful in acquiring assistance for both Tepla and renewed aid to Dosi, and Reylin met with the Poes and their newborn daughter Mira Mirna ("Stratagems and Allies").

SECTION 31
Illicit intelligence organization within Starfleet.  Also sometimes referred to as S31.  It is unknown how long Section 31 has existed, although former S31 director Luther Sloan once claimed to Deep Space Nine’s Julian Bashir that it was part of the original Starfleet charter (DS9, "Inquisition"), and the Pegasus crew found evidence to support that claim when Procul Colonus, a far-flung colony set up by lost Federation settlers, followed a charter with a very ominous Section 31 in its text ("Section 31").  Section 31 is officially disavowed by Starfleet, but has been mentioned in reports by Melanie Maddox of the Federation News Service ("Foregone Conclusion", "Millenium Bug").  Carlos Ruiz had spent some time in his past helping agents of the Section break free from its grasp ("Edged Tools").  Admiral Bill Ross has also had involvement with the Section (DS9, "Inter Arna Enim Silent Leges", PEG, "Foregone Conclusion", "Cat and Mouse", "Stars are the Books She Reads").  Among other dangerous acts, the Section was responsible for creating the morphogenic virus intended on eradicating the Founders during the Dominion War (DS9, "When It Rains…").

In 2377, Admiral Ross coordinated an attack on the Pegasus by the USS Bellerophon to take an officer believed to be very beneficial to the Section should they get their hands on her.  Captain Maddigan, the Bellerophon’s CO, was punished for firing upon a fellow Starfleet vessel and accepted Ross’ invitation to join Section 31 ("Stars are the Books She Reads").

Poe took steps after this point to break the back of the Section, forcing knowledge of them out into the open and helping imprison any officers found to be a part of it.  In 2379, after the Section was believed defunct, former agents uncovered a plot suggesting a shadow government forming on Bajor had plans to assassinate Kira Nerys, among others. The plot was stopped, and amnesty offered to any Section 31 officers choosing to step forward and disavow any future involvement with the illicit, lawbreaking organization ("Pirates of the Greater Treason").

Nothing was heard of the Section until 2385, when the crew not only found out Section 31 was alive and rebuilding, but a schism was forming in its ranks, with one faction vying to exercise control the Federation government and Starfleet Command from within.  Fleet Captain Poe contacted Admiral Paul Henry, gaining permission to approach the Freelander Alliance in order to ask for their permission to enter their space, where Section 31 was believed to be operating under cover ("The Captains of Pegasus").  This schism was later confirmed by agent Karen Shore as that between the "real" Section 31 and the autonomous subsection run by The Five, of which Mareena Salean is a member ("Stages of Grief: Anger and Bargaining").

In late October 2385, Section 31 officers linked to President Taela Shanthi were accused of the execution of Chaundra St. Amant and her husband and children at an undisclosed location where the former presidential candidate and Romulan operative’s debriefing had been occurring.  Karent Shore stated she had no knowledge of any such action being undertaken by her people, nor any orders to carry out such murders ("Ever Vigilant").  That November, Shore was pardoned by President Shanthi, and it was suggested by Odo that she had orders to assassinate Finneas Del Roy, believed to be a clone created by Section 31.  Poe arrested Shore, preventing her from interfering until the election had already concluded ("Democracy Inaction?", "One Very Bad Week").

TAELA SHANTHI (Inactive) (Updated)
Former President of the United Federation of Planets (2377-2385), and former Starfleet admiral.  In 2368, Fleet Admiral Shanthi ordered the USS Enterprise to initiate a blockade against the Romulan Empire to prevent them from interfering in the Klingon civil war (TNG, "Redemption", Part II), and two years later initiated proceedings into the wrongdoings of Admiral Pressman and the illegal cloaking device aboard the Oberth-class USS Pegasus (the current Pegasus’ predecessor) (TNG, "The Pegasus").

Shanthi later retired from Starfleet, and was elected president of the UFP.  In late 2378, as Bajor’s petition to join the Federation and its protectorate status were about to lapse, First Minister Shakaar petitioned President Shanthi to help secure a renewal of protectorate status ("A Pegasus Ghost Story"), which lasted until Bajor officially joined the Federation in 2385 ("Homecoming").  As Federation President, Shanthi had the right to preside over Federation Council meetings, and often presided over the Federation Security Council during important matters.  In 2381, Shanthi was present as the Security Council convened in emergency session to discuss a bill condemning the Klingon invasion of Cardassia, which ultimately led to the end of the Post-War Alliance ("This August Body").  In 2382, Shanthi presided over a ratification of an agreement to end the Klingon occupation of Cardassia ("A Little Help From Our Friends").

In 2385, President Shanthi announced her intention to run for re-election to the post of UFP President ("The Captains of Pegasus").  Her opponents included Finneas Del Roy ("Homecoming") and Chaundra St. Amant ("Free Will").  Also that year, after attacks by Jem’Hadar upon Deep Space Nine, Bolarus, and the Presidio Clinic, President Shanthi ordered heightened security measures, including a lessening of civil liberties, and ordered the Bajoran wormhole mined ("Stages of Grief: Denial"), and even though the DS9 and Bolarus attacks were later attributed to The Five, Shanthi she refused to believe, without solid proof, that the Dominion was not responsible for the destruction of the Presidio Clinic ("Stages of Grief: Denial").  Even in the face of an embargo by the Free Trade Alliance and growing resentment from the Bajoran people, Shanthi still refused to de-mine the wormhole ("The Lies We Tell Ourselves").

A couple of months before the 2385 election, Melanie Maddox uncovered evidence suggesting Shanthi colluded with The Five to kidnap and silence Chaundra St. Amant ("Voice of the Comet God"), then months later, Maddox discovered that the entire St. Amant family had been executed.  Maddox aired an unapproved story over FNS airwaves – which had been blocked by her editor repeatedly – on the deaths of Chaundra, her husband Patrick, and their children ("Ever Vigilant").  To regain popularity after this scandal, Shanthi ordered the wormhole reopened to traffic, though she also ordered Fleet Captain Poe Dalin to keep all news of the existence of a clone of Amaterasu Kaiyama confidential, and has released Karen Shore from custody, offering her a conditional pardon for reasons unknown ("Democracy Inaction?").  When Poe Dalin placed Karen Shore back in custody in order to prevent her from attempting to assassinate Finneas Del Roy, the president ended his career and deactivated his commission, removing him as Bajoran Fleet captain ("One Very Bad Week").

Shanthi lost her re-election bid for the presidency in November 2385, and Finneas Del Roy assumed the position in January 2386 ("One Very Bad Week", "Next Generation").  President Del Roy opened an inquiry into Shanthi's involvement in the deaths of the St. Amant family two months into his term ("Discovery Phase").

TEPLA (Updated)
Gamma Quadrant world just outside of Dominion space.  In 2172, as punishment for their successful resistance against the Dominion, the Jem’Hadar inflicted the planet with the Blight, an incurable disease marked by spiderlike lesions in random places on a person’s body that grow dark red as the person nears death.  The formerly vibrant world had collapsed under two centuries of suffering into a barely-functional planet of the dead and dying when visited by Dr. Julian Bashir and Lieutenant Jadzia Dax in 2372.  While Dr. Bashir was unable to cure the Blight, he discovered a way to successful inoculate children before birth so that they would be Blight-free (DS9, "The Quickening").

Starfleet had no interaction with Tepla until late 2385, when a hunch from Odo and Kira Nerys led Pegasus into Tepla’s orbit, where they discovered a planet heavily depopulated and supporting only twelve clustered population centers due to wars, lack of resources, and the death of most of the planet’s population.  Dr. Bashir had returned to Tepla to find the planet facing a bleak future: a planet of only untrained children incapable of creating and furthering their own society.  Bashir refused to leave Tepla to return to DS9 or Starfleet, resigning his commission after informing the Pegasus crew that he felt personally to blame for the near-collapse of Teplan civilization.

Captain Ruiz promised to do his best to find aid, even dispatching Ambassador Reylin to speak with the Federation Council to request aid ("Next Generation") after the Freelander Alliance  refused to step in to stop the Teplan situation from getting worse ("Fancy Dress").  Reylin was successful in acquiring aid for Tepla ("Rank and File").  Meanwhile, Ruiz charged Ensign Horatio Atherton with coming up with a possible course of action for handling the various looming Teplan societal woes ("Stratagems and Allies").

U.S.S. VOYAGER [Pegasus Canon] (Inactive)
In a previous timeline, Voyager returned to San Francisco with fanfare and celebration across the Federation ("Endgame", VOY).  In the current Pegasus timeline, Voyager will not return until 2392, after the timeline was reset back to the one before Admiral Janeway’s violation of the Temporal Prime Directive.  The source and cause of the temporal reset remains unknown ("Reset").  Presently, Voyager remains in the Delta Quadrant, and will remain there for another six years.

WAZ (Updated)
Aliens from the Gamma Quadrant that seem to shift between a incorporeal existence and a corporeal one, often by inhabiting the bodies of other sentient beings.  A group of Waz, traveling on and somehow bound to a dissolving comet, utilized the opportunity of Pegasus’ proximity to the comet to board the Pegasus and possess every mind on the vessel, including animals and Pereine.  The Waz from the comet were led by a Regent, and are all exiles from a group they called the Waz Demesne, though their plan is to start anew utilizing the bodies of the Pegasus crew.

Despite some discontent by several of the Waz regarding their new hosts, it has been stated that the Regent has noted no sharing of switching of hosts can be tolerated, as this would lead to the near-imminent death of the hosts involved ("Fancy Dress").

The Waz became more concerned with keeping their presence a secret after Pegasus returned to Deep Space Nine.  To that end, many of the Waz studied how their hosts would typically behave, and endeavored to do the jobs assigned to the hosts as best as they were able to, if for no other reason than to help keep the Pegasus running and free of scrutiny.  However, odd behavior on the part of several of the hosts did raise questions after all.

When Borg and Jem’Hadar vessels emerged from the Bajoran Wormhole, the Waz fled aboard a probe specially constructed by the Regent, and all fled for parts unknown ("A ‘Hole Lotta Trouble").  Efforts to locate the probe have so far been fruitless ("Stratagems and Allies").
